Stuart Mungall

Stuart became Artistic Director of Half Moon Theatre for three months in 1983. During his tenure he directed His Master’s Voice and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Before joining Half Moon Theatre, Stuart worked as an actor for many companies, including The Royal Court and the Royal Shakespeare Company. He was most known as the lorry driver in the original Yorkie Bar advert. As Artistic Director he worked Cheltenham Everyman Theatre, Pitlochry Festival Theatre and Borderline Theatre Company. He also directed at the Royal Shakespeare Company, Soho Poly and The Young Vic. He retired from working in theatre to run a garden centre with his wife.
Johnnie Quarrell was a former docker and bank messenger who wrote several plays for Half Moon Theatre. He talks about his play, The Third And Final Round, which he had been trying to get produced for many years and was finally taken up by Stuart Mungall. Interviewed by Rosie Vincent.
