Johnny Boxer was a physical performance based on the life of boxer Ted Kid Lewis who became a World Champion but who then succumbed to the high life.

Billy Colvill wrote and performed in many plays at Half Moon Theatre on Alie Street. He talks about performing in the play Johnny Boxer, which was seen by the boxing commentator, Harry Carpenter. He also remembers one performance when he almost got knocked out by another performer who in fact was a professional boxer. Interviewed by Toni Tsaera.
