The play formed the second half of a whole day programme and followed a participation element that lasted all morning. Free to Stay takes its starting point from the true and contemporary story of the Hasbudak family and their campaign to stop their parents’ deportation. The story was told in the words of Zeynep, who was seven at the time the events started. The play was presented through the eyes of Zeynep and her little brother, Fatih.

You can access the script of this play via the British Library’s MPS Modern Playscripts Collection.
