An urban ghost story.
Picture this: you’re in love, exams are over, summer is here and the party has started. University and big decisions lie ahead, but everything is suddenly about to change. A young man tells the story of an unforgettable night and shares with us the events from which he will never escape.
With an original rap soundtrack, this compelling, witty and intimate play explored the harsh realities of growing up, independence and the consequences of a journey which will change lives forever.
This piece explored the consequences of a car crash with the Boy looking down on his own untimely death in that crash.
Time for the Good Looking Boy was one of the first productions to enter the Half Moon Presents portfolio. It had four short tours to venues and festivals in 2012/13.
Performances of Time for the Good Looking Boy lasted 60 minutes and were followed by a Textback session. In common with all 13+ shows on tour at the time, Textbacks were a Q&A session for the audience to field their questions using text messaging to a dedicated Half Moon company mobile phone. The questions were then read out by the company and answered. The Textback session provided an anonymous way to address the themes of the play and provided a method which young people felt comfortable with to interact with the play, without calling out or putting up their hand. This also provided a safe filtering mechanism should inappropriate questions be raised.
Time for the Good Looking Boy was short listed for Best Play for Young People by the Writers Guild of Great Britain.

★★★★★ “Five stars only go to a show that is to all intents perfect, that wakens something inside you and keeps you utterly captivated for an entire hour. As far as I’m concerned, Time for the Good Looking Boy is one of those shows.”
Tom King, Broadway Baby
★★★★★ “Every aspect of this production is outstanding. Lloyd Thomas’ magnetic performance never wavers, instead it grows throughout the hour-long duration of the show and he produces a captivating, totally absorbing, spellbinding performance.”
David Marren, All the Festivals
“Smart, knowing, and full of heart, this may be an urban ghost story but the shivers it sends up your spine are nothing to do with spooks and everything to do with its wondrous spell.”
Claire Allfree, Metro
“Cataclysmic, powerful, poignant.”
